Getting Started
How do I get started at Lightning Ninja Academy?
Three easy steps: book a FREE trial class, sign the online waiver before you arrive, and show up in closed-toe athletic shoes with a water bottle. Our coaches handle everything else — no experience or equipment needed.
What age can kids start ninja classes?
Weekly ninja classes and open gym start at age 5. Our Mini Ninja program welcomes ages 3–4, and teens and adults can train through open gym and Elite Training (15+).
Do I need to book the free trial class in advance?
Yes — trial classes are booked by appointment so we can keep coach-to-student ratios small. Grab a spot on the booking page or call or text (916) 751-1979; it takes about a minute.
What should my child wear to ninja class?
Closed-toe athletic shoes are required for all activities — no sandals, Crocs, flip-flops, open-back shoes or boots. Add comfortable athletic clothing, leave jewelry at home, and bring a water bottle.
Does my child need experience to start?
No experience needed. Coaches scale every obstacle to each athlete’s level, and our curriculum meets kids exactly where they are — total beginner to seasoned competitor.
How do I create an account and sign up?
Three steps: sign the waiver, create an account in the Customer Portal, then book classes, camps and parties or buy passes in the LNA Store.

When are summer camps and how much do they cost?
2026 half-day camp sessions run June 9–11, July 21–23 and August 4–6 for kids ages 5–12, at $210 per camp week. Pre-registration is required — see the camps page.
What ages are ninja camps for?
Summer camps are designed for kids ages 5–12. Campers are grouped by age and ability so everyone is challenged at their own level.
What do campers do at ninja camp?
Every camp day mixes obstacle course challenges, ninja skills training, games and plenty of open play — plus time to make new friends. Kids leave tired, happy and stronger than they arrived.
What should my camper bring?
Closed-toe athletic shoes (required), comfortable athletic clothes, a water bottle and a snack. Leave jewelry and valuables at home. We’ll send a full packing note when you register.
What if my camper can't attend a session we booked?
Plans change — we get it. Call or text (916) 751-1979 as soon as you know and we’ll walk you through the options for your session.
Safety & Rules
Is ninja training safe for kids?
Safety is the foundation of everything we do: padded landing zones, daily-maintained equipment, certified coaches, small coach-to-student ratios, and skill progressions that only advance kids when they’re ready.
Why are closed-toe shoes required?
Grip and protection. Obstacles like the warped wall, laches and balance elements demand real traction, and closed-toe athletic shoes protect feet on landings. No sandals, Crocs, flip-flops, open-back shoes or boots — no exceptions.
Do parents need to stay during class or open gym?
For athletes ages 5–12, an adult must remain on site. Parents are always welcome to watch — and if you want to try the course during open gym, just sign a waiver.
What are the gym rules?
The big ones: closed-toe athletic shoes for all activities, a signed waiver for every participant, follow coach instructions on the course, no jewelry or gum, and an adult on site for athletes ages 5–12. Coaches cover the rest at the start of every session.
What happens if my child gets hurt at the gym?
Our coaches are trained to respond immediately, and a parent or guardian is contacted right away for anything beyond a minor bump. Have specific questions about our safety procedures? Call us at (916) 751-1979.

What ninja equipment does the gym have?
The latest ninja technology: warped wall, salmon ladder, peg wall, cliffhanger, laches, grip challenges and endurance obstacles — all state-of-the-art, maintained daily and scaled for every level from first-timer to competitor.
Can parents watch during class?
Yes! Parents are always welcome to stay and watch — many of our best moments are kids waving at mom or dad right after beating an obstacle for the first time.
Waivers & Policies
Do I need to sign a waiver?
Yes — every participant needs a signed Release of Liability on file, and parents sign for minors. One online waiver covers a parent plus up to five children.
How do I sign the waiver?
Sign it online in about two minutes on our waiver page — ideally before your first visit so you can skip the front-desk wait. You can also sign on the official site at lightningninjaacademy.com/waiver.
What is your cancellation or make-up policy?
Policies vary by program — classes, camps, parties and private lessons each work a little differently. For the current policy on your booking, call or text (916) 751-1979 and we’ll sort it out fast.
Who owns Lightning Ninja Academy?
We’re family-owned and operated by Barak and Alison Davis, whose four kids grew up training on homemade garage obstacles. Read the whole story on our About page.
Can I rent the gym for a private event?
Birthday parties already include private access to the whole gym. For other private events — team outings, field trips, church groups — call or text (916) 751-1979 and we’ll build something that works.
Ready to Watch Your Kid Light Up?
The first class is free. Book a time, sign the waiver, and show up in closed-toe shoes — we'll handle the rest.
